Overview
This event consists of a talk show by Professor Naoko Tosa of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute at Kyoto University and Chairman Ichiya Nakamura of the Kyoto International Film and Art Festival Executive Committee, the Sound of Ikebana Fashion Show which is performed by Kyoto University students, and a video introduction for a Noh comedy called Tsukushi in which Ippei Shigeyama, a Noh performer of the Okura school, wears a kataginu (sleeveless robe) from the Sound of Ikebana Fashion Show.
Viewers will be able to see Sound of Ikebana, a work of art by Naoko Tosa, as a video projected onto a big screen, as well as a fashion show featuring apparel that utilizes digital textile dye technology. Sound of Ikebana was created by filming liquid with a high-speed camera to capture the varied expressions produced by sound vibrations as a means of reproducing the momentary beauty hidden in invisible phenomena—“invisible beauty” depicted as a sound flower or bouquet.
