In the autumn of 1963, Fan Jinshi, a Shanghai girl, came to Dunhuang after graduating from the Department of Archaeology of Peking University. Under the guidance of Chang Shuhong as a representative, she has been guarding the Mogao Caves for more than half a century, overcoming many obstacles. She has also created “Digital Dunhuang”, which allows for the permanent preservation and sustainable use of cultural relics.
Story
The film "Daughter of Dunhuang" tells the story of Fan Jinshi, the third director of the Dunhuang Academy, who dedicated her life to protecting Dunhuang from the age of 25 to 80. The film is a true restoration of the harsh conditions in which Fan Jinshi and other "patron saints of Dunhuang" lived and studied in the Mogao Caves; the use of special effects to recreate the beauty of the caves is another innovation in huju films.
